Happy Mother's Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! This was my first Mother's Day, and Edwin definitely made it special and memorable! It started off with breakfast in bed and the kids all gave me their presents and cards! Edwin woke up early and got donuts, kolaches, and red bull! Red bull is the nectar of the gods. mmmmmmm

My gift is a spa day; Stone massage and spa pedicure! I can't wait!
Here's a poem and hand print that Kai made at school; so sweet
And here's Keira's hand
My card from the kids; coupons! I WILL use them!

After church we went for some yummy Italian food than stopped by Fry's to look at TV's. The kids took a break in the massage chairs, while Edwin was looking at TV's...
Kade and Kai
And we came home with this beauty...I'm not sure if this was Mother's day or Father's day! haha. We've been looking around for a second TV, and I just finally gave the green light!
I ended the day with my favorite snowcone and some HGTV!
I hope all you Mother's felt loved and special! For my menu for the week, hop over to my cooking blog.

Kai's field day

Kai had his field day on Friday! It was so different than Kade's (not to mention, a lot shorter!), and such a blast to watch! Kai is so fast and athletic! Here are a few pictures and video. Happy mother's day!

This is Kai and his friend Garrett parading their ribbons! Kai got second in the first race..only because he slowed down at the VERY end, and Garrett took one extra step and stepped in front of him for First!
Kai got second in the sack race! That's him on the left in the blue shirt
So cute; parading his ribbon
The boys in Kai's class (obviously I cropped out most of the class!), doing the tug-of-war against other classes. They got first! I'm not sure what Kai is doing here; haha.

Now he's concentrating!
This is Kai's cousin, Seth (in the front)! It was fun to cheer on Seth too!
Kai and Garrett at the end of Field Day (we were able to check out our kiddos and take them home!)

Here's a quick video of one of the races. All the kindergarten classes did a relay race against each other, and Kai was the first runner and the last runner for his class. They got first place! Kai's smokin fast

Kade's field day

Today was Kade's field day (my first field day as a parent!). It was SUPER hot and it was almost 3 hours long, but I was so glad I went!  Poor Keira was bored and sweating, but I took some snacks and drinks for her; glad I did! A lot of parents took the day off and cheered their kiddos on. Kai's field day is tomorrow, and his is only 45 minutes long (I suppose they don't expect the same out of 6 year olds!)  Here are a few pictures from the day

Kade during the Tug-of-war (you can tell he's starting to slip! For those of you that aren't family, he's  second from the left; white shirt and red shorts)
This is Mason (cousin) after winning 2nd place in the 100 yd. dash
Here, Kade is watching the 4th grade girls run. I had to take a picture; since he "leaned" in to watch!
Kade about to start the baton race
Kade finishing 2nd in the 200 yd. dash. Stole this picture from Misty.
They're smokin the other kids!
Last but not least, a video. It might be boring for you to watch, but It's my proud mama moment! Kade was lined up for the tire push relay (I have no idea what its actually called), and I realized he was helping a special ed student. He was the last leg of the race and ran alongside this special kiddo. He told me his PE teacher asked him if he would, and he said that was fine with him. He's really beginning to make decisions that show his good character; both at school and in baseball! Speaking of, he was one of the only kids at his baseball game last night, that DIDN'T throw his glove down in a fit after they lost. We told him that we would much rather see him make a good character decision like that, than hit a double. In the beginning of the season, he would get really upset if he messed up or stuck out. Now, he's a lot more composed and building character! Okay; enough of the mama soap box.

Mod Podge Mania

Over at This is The yearthere's a little mod podge party! I really wanted to be able to create something new, but there's just too much going on this week! I've been painting all our trim and baseboards in the house, some doors, and great new shelves Edwin built in our laundry room (I'll post after pictures once we're done!) Edwin and I are heading out of town tonight, so I'm trying to get all the laundry done today and things in order before we leave. SOOOOO, here's a little mod podge project I did after Easter! It was my first attempt, so it's not great; but I'm proud! haha.

I bought a plain white Easter sign on clearance at Hobby Lobby, and found some scrapbooking paper for $.40.
I haven't perfected the mod podge technique, but I'm getting there!

If you're crafty or want to be crafty, check out Xazmin at This is the Year, for more mod podge inspiration!

Reese's birthday party

Over the weekend, we all went to a family members birthday party. Reese turned 4! The rain held up, for the most part, and we were all able to enjoy the sun and play outside. The kids went wild with colored hair spray, silly string, rub on tattoos, face painting, and a jumpy house. We had a great time! Here are some of my favorite pictures from the day. I know those of you that are family members, will enjoy seeing family pictures!

Me with Kai and Keira

Frugal Find

I found a great frugal find today! I was out and about, and stumbled into World Market wasting some time. I got a large Easter wreath for $2 bucks; originally $20. I got a few smaller birds nests for $.69/for two. How great is that!? The only sad thing, is I have to wait until next Easter to use it! I love after holiday sales. Head over to the Shabby Nest for other frugal finds, and get some inspiration to turn trash into treasure!

I also have to share this. My hubby came home yesterday with these beautiful orange roses! My husband rocks!
