Good bye Easter decor, hello new floor!

The painters are DONE! They've been working on our master bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room the past few days. I've been trying to take pictures of completed rooms, but just when one room finishes, we have to fill it with furniture from another room! I did get a picture of the family room, as we were bringing some furniture back in. (below).
We got a few quotes for wood floors, and we're having those installed on Thursday! YAY! BUT, that also means we have to empty the family room and kitchen; again. We're going to put wood floors in our main living areas and down the halls, and large 18 inch tile in the entry, kitchen, laundry room (attached to kitchen and back door to the garage), and bathrooms. We're hoping it's what buyers will want to see, and we'll see some of that money when we sell. I told Edwin that it was making me sad to make our house so nice, and then sell the house! Hopefully we'll get what we're asking for the house, and we'll find a new house we both love! I won't worry about that yet.  Here are some pictures, because pictures are fun and help bring life to words!

The finished paint; yay! (It was green-ish before)

And the family room today. Taken over again

Washer and dryer in our kitchen. No laundry today!

Here are the floor samples we're getting. We love the darker wood, and warm 18 inch tile!

So, we will obviously have even more after pictures, once the floors are put down! One mess done, another begins...

Happy Easter!

I'll post some pictures of our finished rooms (done in time for Easter!), but our house is a mess with candy and Easter eggs right now! Hope you all enjoyed the day with your family!

No where left to sit; going to the zoo!

So Keira and I (and her cousin Zane!) are about to go to the Zoo! We're both sitting on my bed right now, because there's no where left to be in our house! Last night Edwin and I emptied out our family room, dining space, kitchen, and kitchen table. For real. It's all in the garage. It's like we just moved, but we're not moving! UG. I told Edwin I just wanted to keep everything in the garage until we actually DID move!  I AM actually excited to have everything done and painted, then stage the house to sell. We're not going to put a lot of things back on the walls; de cluttering and staging!  There's a plumber in our upstairs game room caping off and removing some plumbing, from that sink Edwin yanked out. A plumber came out yesterday, but I apparently had him do the wrong thing.  OH LAWWWWWWW!
Here are some pictures from today:

First; the finished bathroom! I put everything back this morning (except the wall decor)

Off to the zoo!

Interior Work day 2

I can't believe how fast these guys are working! Keira's room and the boys room were finished yesterday. Today, they're going to paint the bathroom (The texture had to dry overnight), and begin on the entry way, staircase wall, and upstairs playroom. The boys slept on their mattresses in Keira's room, and Keira slept on a little palette we made for her in our room. It all worked out, and everybody got to sleep!

Being a stay at home mom and all, I was nervous about just sitting here in the house all day while they work. Not because I was afraid of anything, but it can just be awkward to do your daily routine when someone else you don't know is in your house! It hasn't been awkward though. I've used my humor and nice southern hospitality to make them and myself comfortable! They've laughed at me taking pictures, I've given them water, and told them to go take their lunch break! ha.

Yesterday, the guy that does speak english stepped out to buy paint and the guy that doesn't speak english was still here working. From time to time, I peeked in the rooms to take pictures and it looked like he was painting the ceiling tan (instead of white). I sent Edwin an email and asked what I was supposed to do since we couldn't communicate! I went back in Keira's room and just pointed up and said "blanco?!" I felt retarded that I couldn't actually communicate (considering I took many years of Spanish in high school and College!). He was just using a primer and covering a patch. Again, I felt retarded but got tickled at myself for pointing and saying "blanco?!" (that's white in Spanish in case you didn't know that!)

This is the beginning work of the entry and stairway wall. You can see how "Intrusive" the work is beginning to be! ha. I"m not sure what we're going to do when they do the kitchen! Eat out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?! Oh law!
This is a better view (see my computer on the chair? That's where I"m sitting and writing this)
Here is one view of the upstairs playroom. We obviously couldn't remove all the furniture, since there's no place else for it! We pushed it all to the middle and they just covered it up with plastic.

This is Keira's finished room. Yeah!

This is the boy's finished room. This picture makes it look tiny, but this is one side of the room. Trust me; two boys and their furniture fit in here! They still have to do a few finishing touches, and they're storing all the supplies in here for now.
Ta Da; that's it for now!

Interior work finally begins!

Today is the first day, that interior work is being done to our house (due to Hurricane Ike). We had to completely clear out the boys room, Keira's room, and the hall bathroom. COMPLETELY. Right now the contractors are scraping, retexturing, and repainting their rooms for the next 4 days (or so), then will slowly (or quickly!) get to every room in the house. All of their bedroom stuff is in our family room, and our bedroom. We're not exactly sure where the kids are going to sleep the next few nights, but we'll figure it out! Once they're done with those rooms, we'll have to clear out and empty the next room for them to work on. Its going to be a pain and hassle once they begin work in the family room and our bedroom! The exciting thing, is that our house is finally getting fixed and taken care of from all the Ike damage! I got to go pick out paint colors, since every room in our house is being redone! We're painting all neutrals (tans) since we're going to sell, and that's something we were going to have to do anyways! Here are some pictures right now.
Keira's empty room!
Kade and Kai's empty room! (sorry; weird camera angle. The work has already started in this room)
One of the boys dressers, and a bunch of stuff piled up
More stuff

Keira's dresser and more of the boys stuff, and all their comforters
At least our bed is made! (Thats the boys dresser)
Keira's kitchen in our kitchen (she's excited about cooking while I"m cooking!)
All their beds and Keira's bookcase in our family room!

At least now we know what good helpers/movers the kids are! We all pitched in and worked together, to quickly empty out all three rooms. The kids were a great help! It definitely looks like we're moving, and I"m not sure if its depressing or exciting, that we're going to do this all again when we DO move!

What happens when 5 cousins get together

This is what I call puppet show chaos! This occurred this past weekend in Dallas (our kids; Kade, Kai and Keira, and my brothers kids; Ethan and Adelaide). I caught a few seconds of it on video. Make sure your volume is up!

April fool's part two; pictures

So April 1st is pretty much over (since the kids are home from school, and there isn't much else to do!) Here are some pictures from the day and a few things we did to have a little fun on April Fool's day! Edwin isn't home from work yet, but I'm hoping he doesn't have anything up his sleeve! He actually told me he was going to put a rubber band around the hand nozzle (whatever that thing is called), on the kitchen sink so when I turned the sink on, the hand sprayer sprayed me! BUT I apparently woke up in a bad mood (don't judge me; I was tired!), and he didnt think I would laugh!

First; I made all the beds backwards. It looks funny since they dont have Footboards! This is Kade and Kai's room
This is Keira's room. She actually saw this, and fixed her bed and I had to make it like this again! She's very organized and meticulous!  (and she's 4)
And this is our room
I woke up this morning, to this LOVELY football helmet on my dresser, and my decorations gone. I found them later though! Thank you Edwin for redecorating our room for April Fool's! ha.
And now; THIS is Edwin's closet! Yet; its filled with my clothes! That's right. I switched our closets. So when Edwin gets home and goes to change his clothes, he'll find mine in his closet! This is just one side of the closet. We have large closets and lots of clothes! Both of us.
This is my closet (yes and some storage stuff) with some of Edwin's clothes and where I put his lovely football helmet. Dont you think it looks better in a closet?!
I even put his shoes, hats, shorts, and pants in my closet.
So that's it on the pictures! Kai wore a sticker to school that says "I eat worms", and I sent both boys with a card that wouldn't open. When they got home from school, I put a different color of food coloring at the bottom of a cup, and when they asked for milk; it poured out white, but filled the cup a color! Kai and Keira said this was the best day ever. They're dying for Edwin to get home to see his closet!

Now, I have to worry about changing the closets back later! UG. BUT it was worth it. The kids felt special and loved today, and had a good laugh! Keira said, "my mommy is so funny!" Isn't that what it's all about?!
